The Saint Raphaël Triathlon will be one of the very first of the season in Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur.
“SWIMMING in the bay of Saint-Raphaël, ROLLING on the Corniche d’Or, RUNNING by the sea… This is the scenery that awaits you during the Saint-Raphaël Triathlon”.
Two proposed routes : The triathlon S and triathlon M
- Triathlon S :
For the swimming event, the start will be from the emblematic Veillât beach, opposite the Casino de Saint Raphaël in the direction of the Port of Santa Lucia. An early morning start which offers a unique panorama of the bay. A 750-metre loop awaits participants.
For the cycling event, 20 km are to be covered on the cycling course. The triathletes will take the road of the Corniche d’Or in the direction of the Côte d’Azur. This circuit will be within everyone’s reach and will allow them to ride along the seaside, passing by the Dramont, a major landing place in 1944.
Finally, for the running event, the organising team proposes this year a route along the seafront in the direction of the port of Santa Lucia. 2 loops will have to be done for the Sprint format for a total of about 5km. The climax of this loop will be at the nautical school.
- Triathlon M :
Same starting point as the S triathlon, the swimmers will start from the Veillât beach of Saint Raphaël, the most central beach of the seaside resort next to the Vieux Port, for two 750-metre loops with an Australian-style outing to the delight of the spectators !
At the end of this effort, the competitors will cross the beach and climb a few metres to continue with the cycling event. The cycling course is 12km long, the distance that separates Saint Raphaël from the magnificent bay of Agay.
Arriving at the central roundabout of Agay, the participants will continue their route in the Esterel massif. A very nice and very selective loop awaits the triathletes with 20Km of additional distance in the middle of this massif characterised by these red rocks. The management of the effort, before starting the run, will be the key of this 44Km course !
Finally, the running event will propose 3 loops of a somewhat longer distance to the outskirts of the port of Santa Lucia, the golden islands, heritage and tourist mecca of the region. An ideal 10Km for spectators, suitable for newcomers and triathlon enthusiasts.
All the triathletes will finish by climbing the access ramp to the Bonaparte garden and pushing for the last two hundred metres in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere !
Each course is set up so that the spectator accompaniers, Raphaëlois and Raphaëloise, can enjoy the show and encourage all the runners. The finish line will be in the Bonaparte Garden near the Saint Raphaël angel for a unique moment !
